Mobile Quiet Zones® space that gives children a break Modern kindergartens and school are buzzing places – full of motion, sounds and triggers. It is a natural environment for many children but for some – especially those highly sensitive, neurodivergent or tired with sensory overload – it may be overwhelming. The answer to these needs are Mobile Quiet Zones® – soft, safe and child-friendly felt cocoons that can be arranged in any way in the educational space. What is it? Mobile Quiet Zone® is a construction made of high-quality PET felt in the shape of a pumpkin or a bean. Their purpose is to create a calm micro-space where a child can take refuge, regenerate and regain a sense of security. The cocoons do not require assembly or special conditions – they are mobile and easy to move around as well as exceptionally aesthetic and pleasant to the touch. They work well in nursery clasrooms, school corridors, libraries, therapy rooms, staff rooms – anywhere a child needs to draw breath when they are having a difficult time. Why does it work? Research shows that noise and overstimulation decrease the ability to concentrate, regulate emotions and learn. Quiet Zones support children’s self-regulation and build a culture of mindfulness in educational institutions. This project is based on real needs of teachers and students – it was created on the initiative of Wioletta Matusiak, an educator and designer who created her own form of cocoons sewn from felt, inspired by an empathetic approach to education. Who is it for? For children on the autism spectrum, with ADHD, sensory processing disorders. For students who need quietening, rest or a moment of solitude. For teachers and specialists looking for practical tools to work with emotions. 26 www.mojebambino.pl/en
